10/15: Creep

Well, much like the proverbial colon, I am all kinds of backed up. So over the next day or so I'll be posting reviews to catch up. These'll probably be shorter than usual, seeing as how I have 4 reviews to catch up on. Here we go...

10/15: For tonight's film I watched Creep, a film centering around, well, a creep. A young videographer answers an ad for a days work of shooting for good pay. The videographer meets the man at his house only to find out that the man is dying of cancer, his wife has a baby on the way, and, most importantly, wants to make a video of himself to give his son in case he dies before the birth. Sounds all well and good, right?

Yeah, well, turns out the guys a creep and his whole story is bullshit. He's lured our friendly neighborhood videographer for nefarious purposes. Oops.

As the movie unfolds it does a pretty good job of selling the found footage aesthetic to reveal this creep and his, ya know, creepiness. Mark Duplass, who plays said creep, does a stellar job of making his character just creepy enough while still potentially being lovable; is his creepiness all in the videographer's, and thus our, head? The climatic scene leaves an eerie image that will dwell with you, as does the creep. This man is someone far too real, someone you could easily meet and be suckered in by; only later do find his true nature, when it's too late.

And Peachfuzz is creepy as hell. Just sayin'.

8/10
